Meet the Artist
Luke Villarreal began his professional cartooning career in 10th grade drawing comic strip cartoons for local papers in towns across the Texas panhandle beginning in 1986. He moved to Dallas to attend the Art Institute graduating in visual communications. While attending college he worked under Peeler -Rose productions in Dallas, Tx. doing cartoon animation work with "inbetweening" and cel painting for features that would appear on the Disney Channel in 1990 and 1991. Also during college, he syndicated his comic strip "Amazon Andy" in weekly papers from Texas to Puerto Rico. Since then he has been involved in many aspects in the world of including large-scale mural art, doing cartoon foam art and cartoon advertising for many businesses in Dallas and across the state of Texas.
His cartooning has taken him to 44 different countries around the world. He has drawn many celebrities, professional athletes, from America, England, Canada, and Australia. He does caricature art with graphite, airbrush, pastels, acrylics and computer software as well as the latest leading 3d animation programs. He lives in Galveston, Texas where he is contracted by the city Galveston & Landry's Incorporated to draw on the Strand and Seawall.
He drew Caricatures in the Dallas market for 17 years and now currently works the Houston circuit beginning in 2015. His many past clients' om Houston include Radio Row Superbowl pregame shows, Exxon-Mobile, Motiva Energy, Pappasitos, JC Penney, Office Depot, StuttGarten Taverns, AMC Theaters, Katy Mills and Galleria Malls and many more in Houston and countless Corporations in Dallas.
